LOT is a collaborative project formed in 2018 between jewellers, Jed Green, Sarah Pulvertaft with embroiderer Beatrice Mayfield.
Their work is united through the importance of materiality, pattern, movement and a thoughtful use of colour. Between them they use a diverse range of precious and non-precious; resistant and non-resistant; uncommon and everyday materials. Each of them imaginatively transforms raw materials into beautifully crafted, wearable objects.
The three developed a collaborative process of working, loosely based on the “Exquisite Corpse” method. Instead of designing and working together as a trio they each began and finished a piece within a pre arranged time frame. It was then posted on to the next to continue the process until all three had contributed to each piece. There was no discussion between them during the making, responding directly through the work and at the end of the process they met to reveal the outcomes of the collaboration and work on final resolutions. This form of working pushed them creatively and encouraged them to work both within and beyond their normal ways and usual methods.
They have created two collections to date, LOT1 with a focus on materials, LOT2 focussing on colour and have plans for a third on the theme of pattern.
